Twelve months out: decide the pathway
International curriculum or local system? These are different journeys with different admission mechanics, different costs and very different implications for what your child does afterwards.
Nine months out: shortlist and assess
School fit depends on your child’s current curriculum, their English level, their year group and, frankly, on which schools have space in that year group at all.
Six months out: applications and testing
Most international schools assess applicants. Local schools admit international students through a centralised placement exercise with fixed windows that do not move for anyone.
Three months out: pass, housing, arrival
A Student Pass application follows an offer, not the other way around. Housing decisions should follow the school decision, since commute times in Singapore vary more than newcomers expect.
